Graveyard Ramble

For those who have taken the trouble to go down for today's training, you should know that today's training session was... special! Not because of the rain (which wasted 45 mins of time that we coulda spent at home vegetating in front of the computer), but because of the training venue. I mean, how many of us have trained at a cemetary before? o.O

Before we continue with this post, let us take a short moment to mourn the deaths of at least two snails which have been knocked over by our runners during today's training session. *squish* *squish*

Bah, I bet you just scrolled down all the way to this line. =(

Anyway, for those people who didn't turn up today, pre-workout static stretches have been changed to dynamic stretches. Instead of 15 counts, each stretch is now assigned 3 sets of 5 counts. Example: Instead of... let's say, doing the twisty lunge for 15 counts straight, you do 5 counts' worth of stretching first, take a short breath to rest, then go for another 5 counts, rest, and then go for the last 5 counts.

For Sec 3s, there's a gym session tomorrow (Tuesday) at 2pm after school. BRING.A.TOWEL. Or risk getting kicked out of the gym.

Wednesday's training is at RI, 3.30 pm (for all). Easy run.

Thursday's training is at -> RI <- too (don't get the venue wrong!!), 3.30 pm. Speedwork.

And so, that's it for this post. Remember to wish all the injured people a "Get well soon" before you close this window!

"The jogging part during drills is not to get you tired, it's to... ... um... ... keep the blood circulating." - Mr Lim.

Anyway, remember to come for the long run this Saturday (at MacR), cos we're giving out FREE COOKIES!

...

Okay, maybe not. But the team photo for next year's face year book is going to be taken this Saturday. Thus, remember to come down this Saturday whether you like it or not =P

(Stares at Derek)

P.S. REMEMBER to bring / wear the old green jersey to training. If you don't have / can't find the old green one, then bring / wear the new green one. If you don't know which is which, then just bring the green jersey that doesn't feel floppy when you run with it cos that's probably the old green jersey.

On a completely different note, with regards to the overseas learning journey, it's being held over 4 days: 25th Nov to 28th Nov if I recall correctly. More details will be provided by a more omniscient being.

And as such, yet another post is concluded.

11 Oct - 20 Oct

Just a reminder (in case you haven't been checking ur email), tomorrow (Sat, 11 Oct) will be the last time we will meet together as a team for an optional training session before the EOYs are over - which happens to be exactly 10 days from the date of this post. TRY to maintain your fitness during these 10 days when we don't meet together as a team to train. Quoting straight from the email: "Three times a week 40min easy/moderate run is good enough. I suggest you go for your run in the evening the day after your paper, before studying at night for the next paper. It will help to de-stress.".

By the way, if you open your MSN, I believe that you'll see lots of "countdown" messages being pinned onto various peoples' personal messages. Open up your own MSN window if you don't believe this statement =) Either than, or you see weird stuff like "Gah!" or "Noo! Ima gonna die!" hanging onto peoples' personal messages.

Anyway, on Wednesday (15/10/2008):
Sec 1s: History + CSP/MSP.
Sch ends at 1145h
Sec 2s: Geography + CSP/MSP.
Sch ends at 1145h
Sec 3s: Mother Tongue Language [ =( ] + Chemistry.
Sch ends at 1300h
Sec 4s: Chemistry + History.
Sch ends at 1245h

For people who take 3rd language, paper-checking still takes place next Monday (13/10) and next Tuesday (14/10). After that, marks are finalised and will be sent to RI as your final mark for "French/German/Japanese".

By the way, did you know that MOELC rounds OFF your 3rd language marks, instead of UP? Whereas for other school-based subjects, your marks are rounded UP (Or at least, that's what has been done the previous year). Stingy MOELC teachers ftl.

So, yeah, that's it for this post.

60 hours left.

That's right. From the time of this post, there are approximately 60 hours (2 sf) left until the start of the EOYs on Friday. That's still a considerable amount of mugging time left!

What's happening on Friday (10/10/2008):
Sec 1s: English Language + Mother Tongue Language.
Sch ends at 1230h
Sec 2s: English Language + Mother Tongue Language.
Sch ends at 1230h
Sec 3s: English Language + Social Studies.
Sch ends at 1215h
Sec 4s: English Language + Social Studies.
Sch ends at 1200h
MOELC 3rdLang ppl: 1st day of 3rdLang paper checking

On the good side, two weeks from now, we'll be released from the grasps of the EOY papers! EOYs are like long runs. They last for a reeeeaaaallllllllyyyy loooooooooooong period of time, and you can't escape from the torture.

[ But I think I'd rather choose to do a long run, compared to sitting for an EOY paper and being forced to mug for it. =( ]

And in case anyone didn't know what the "Gold Shoe" was during Prometheum Day today, here's a quote from 2008-2009 Captain Lee (taken from his blog):

"Anyway since its Promethium tomorrow I shall talk about the CROSS SYMBOL OMG ITS LIKE FRIGGIN NICE. Its like a golden shoe in a super super ex but nice frame its like probably the nicest every symbol. Mind you there was ALOT of effort put into this symbol so I really love it. But its like glass I'm friggin scared we drop it on stage. That would be an ULTIMATE DISASTER.Like nothing more ultimate than that." -Guan Lin

Apparently, it's a running shoe encased in a glass box with lots of glitter stuck onto it. Btw, the glitter made the shoe look REALLY shiny. Shiny thingys look nice =)
